(Amazing) Ham Soup

My cooking generally turns out fine, nothing mind-blowing.  Just pretty good for a regular day.  BUT this ham soup turned out AMAZING, there’s no getting around it.   I used the remains of a honey/sugar-glazed ham from Thanksgiving, and it was the best use of leftovers, like, ever.  I advise making as much of this amazing soup as possible because it goes really fast.  I ended up making it twice because it was so good and nobody got enough.  Plus, it isn’t often one has a ham lying around just clamoring to be used. Cauliflower Soup

Pureed Carrots/Carrot Soup

Having a fridge full of carrots and an open container of chicken stock, I decided to make carrot soup.  Midway through the soup-making, I realized that I own none of the following: a blender, a food processor, a Magic Bullet ™, or a potato masher.  I was also getting hungry, and my arms were tired from all the push-ups/pull-ups/ballet I’ve been doing since I quit my job.  The result: pureed carrots.  They were delicious.

Making Chicken Broth

Just when you thought that Costco chickens couldn’t possibly be a better deal than they already were ($4.99 for a whole roasted chicken), wistfully looking at the picked-clean chicken bones before you and remembering the delicious meal you just had, you suddenly get the bright idea to use those bones to make delicious, home-made chicken broth. Tasty and cost effective!
